The Vision

A home is where healing begins.

Imagine being a single mother who wants to provide a better life for her children but is overwhelmed by the weight of doing it alone. Imagine having to choose between paying rent or buying groceries, working to survive or staying home with your children, and trying to heal from past trauma while carrying the responsibility of raising a family.

This is why Rhema House exists.

Rhema House is a nonprofit transitional housing community designed to give single mothers and their children more than just a place to live — we provide a place to rebuild.

Apartment wings — private homes for every family, arranged around a shared, walkable courtyard.

Community heart — a great room, dining, and pavilion where meals, worship, and mentorship happen.

Whole life on site — gardens, playground, and green space for children and families to thrive.

What families will have access to

Everything a mother needs to rebuild.

Our vision is to create a safe, gated apartment community where mothers can live for up to two years while receiving the support, stability, and encouragement they need to build a strong foundation for their future.

Safe housing

Apartment-style homes in a secure, gated community — a real front door and space to call their own.

Free childcare

On-site childcare so mothers can work, attend school, or pursue career training with peace of mind.

Financial education

Budgeting and money-management classes to help families achieve long-term independence.

Life skills training

Parenting, cooking, nutrition, job readiness, and household management.

Counseling & therapy

Professional services to support emotional healing and mental wellness.

Mentorship

Caring individuals walking alongside each mother with encouragement, accountability, and hope.

Outdoor spaces

Community gardens, playgrounds, and green space where children play and families thrive together.

Faith-centered community

A loving place where every mother is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Why apartments

Dignity by design.

Shared shelters serve a purpose — but they can also strip away the privacy a mother needs to grieve, to pray, to plan, and to parent. Rhema House takes a different path.

Each resident will have her own apartment: a private front door, a kitchen, and bedrooms her children do not have to share with strangers. Around her, a community — case managers, counselors, mentors, and neighbors — who are close enough to help but never invade.

The building itself is our first sermon: you and your children are worth a home.

The plan

Three phases. One promise.

01

Phase One — Break ground

Acquire the site, complete architectural plans, and build a gated apartment community with private homes and shared community spaces.

Goal · $4.2M

02

Phase Two — Open doors

Hire our program team, welcome our first mothers and children, and launch childcare, counseling, job readiness, and pastoral care.

Goal · $1.1M / yr

03

Phase Three — Expand

Add additional housing for graduates transitioning into long-term affordable homes on-site.

Goal · $2.8M

Our goal

Transformation, not just temporary housing.

We want every mother who walks through our doors to leave stronger, more confident, financially stable, emotionally healthy, and equipped to provide a brighter future for her children. We believe that when a mother is empowered, an entire generation can be changed.

The name Rhema means “the spoken Word of God” — a word of hope, purpose, and life. That is our prayer for every family who becomes part of this community: that they will discover hope, healing, and the confidence to step into a new future.

We know we cannot accomplish this mission alone. Rhema House will be built through the generosity, prayers, partnerships, and support of people who believe that every mother deserves a second chance and every child deserves a safe place to grow.

Together, we can help families move from surviving to thriving.

Help us hand her the key.
